I've gone a little crazy.

So clearly I've gone a bit crazy.. but I'm admitting it so that's okay right? Two weeks after Christmas I found this craft on one of my favorite blogs, bowerpowerblog.com and I just had to do it! Plus it was January and I was a suffering from Christmas withdrawals so clearly making Christmas decorations for next year is what cures the Christmas blues.

But seriously how can you NOT love him? I'm already so excited to bring him out in 11 months!
Can't wait big guy.
can't. wait.

The concept was simple. I gridded out the printed off image with one inch squares and then with a bit of math I figured out that each square on my 20x20 canvas was just about 3 inches. (Mama I've realized that I've completely lost you, which is why I'm currently making you yours right now! xo!)
Then it was just a process of drawing the same square on the printed off image, but bigger on the canvas.

I'm not going to lie, when I was done tracing it all out, I was a bit nervous-- it looked nothing like the cool pop art santa that I loved so much.. he looked deformed and weird and my confidence in this project was sinking fast.

Until I broke out the metallic sharpies and started coloring him in.

Here's the moment when it all started turing around and I started falling in love..

I'm seriously SO happy with how it turned out!
I love him so much!

ho. ho. HO!

one christmas, three trees.

What a week! I always hate leaving family after such a fun time with everyone, but at Christmas it's a little more bearable when we get home since it becomes Christmas all over when we unpack all our goodies! I of course tend to get wayyyy sidetracked and my house turns into piles and pile of unpacked things that need to be put away. Seriously I think a bomb has gone off in this apartment. It's a disaster.
This year we spent Christmas with my folks, but we were able to go and see Thomas' family over the weekend and have a little mini Christmas with all of them as well.

At the end of the night a crazy storm powered through the area killing all of the power and forced us all into the basement for a bit-- which is where we found the menorah, perfect since we were in need of some candle light once we made it back upstairs. I only panicked for 20mins. Stupid wind.

We ended up having a great time with my in-laws, we ate way too much food, played yahtezz and watched, It's A Wonderful Life. Oh and there were presents too.

Thomas and I got to add another pin to our map since we celebrated Christmas with my family in Columbus, Indiana! My mama and dad are still house hunting so this Christmas was spent in a tiny one-bedroom apartment with 5 adults and 3 dogs. It was nice and cozy, to say the least.

Our first night out on the town in Columbus Indiana we armed ourselves against the tiny one bedroom apartment with Yahtezz (since it was such a hit at the Harris') dominos and we purchased a puzzle. Which Thomas had a hard time steping away from.. ha.

We had such a good time. And It's amazing how all the wrapping paper on Christmas morning completely filled the apartment!

I mean how can you not have a good Christmas when you're with the ones you love, have yummy food, my mama's Christmas cookies, and matching PJs

We rocked it.

december.

I love december. It's my favorite month of the year, as it should be! You have to save the best for last, right?! The twinkling lights, cold weather and all the christmas programs on tv are contagious and just make me all happy and excited for this time of year. I find myself having a sudden urge to curl up on the couch and break out my knitting once again!
Oh snowy weather and Christmas I love you! :)

My parents arrived on Friday and when my mama suggested that they help put up our tree, I ran to turn the Christmas music on and Thomas started unpacking all the Christmas stuff.

It was pure joy.

goodbye december.

I hate to see December leave, It always ends so abruptly and turns into the past in only a few short days. My fantastic holiday has quickly come to an end.
Luckily for me I do get to relive it all right here on my blog. I had some technical issues with this bad boy so my apologies (more like, sorry mom and dad) if your inbox was just exploded with email updates.

I love my Christmas tree. And I'll love it even more when I get to unpack it in 11 months.

christmas

Untitled

It's a good thing I love this holiday. Love it so much Thomas and I got to celebrate it twice!
This was the first year for me that I didn't wake up in my parents house on Christmas morning, and I'm not going to lie, around November I was feeling a little worried about it.

Untitled

Since my family had a huge gathering for Thanksgiving, we completely didn't see Thomas' family at all for the turkey feast. So we knew going into this that we were going to celebrate Christmas with Thomas' family and Thanksgiving with mine. Cullen scared us all and it was looking like his new job was going to have him work a 1/2 day on Christmas Eve, so the new plan was to celebrate Christmas with my side of the family the weekend prior to Christmas.

Now that it's all over and done with, I have to say, Thomas and I got this year right. I know every year won't go down this smoothly but at least we can say we got the first one right.

It worked out so well. I truly felt like I had two Christmas mornings.

Thomas and I are exhausted from all the driving, but I'm so glad we took this entire week off to recharge and get things back in order before the new year. 2013!! It's going to be a busy one!! :)

sparkle ornaments are the best.

Untitled

I might be a little bias, and perhaps I love glitter entirely too much when this month rolls around, but I'm a sucker for glittered ornaments. So when Thomas suggested that we buy an ornament each year together, I had a hard time toning down my inner glitter needs.

Goodnews for us, we found a winner. And I love him dearly. Thomas too.. I might add.

zap me back to december!

I'm craving some home life right about now. I'm blaming January. Poor January. It really gets snubbed, at least by me. I have a deep love for December. I love that it brings twinkling lights, hot chocolate, big blankets and family dinners. And now with a shinny new year the stores are chopped full of swimsuits and rain gear pushing in thoughts of joining a gym.

January my feelings might change if you would just give me some snow! I'd like to see winter at some point this year..

oh christmas treee

Not only am I slightly in love with this picture, but also I love how great my camera takes pictures in low light. Seriously. It’s insane and pure bliss.
