Two days before we left for Ohio I found a pin on Pinterest that lead me to this adorable website. And honestly what better way to celebrate a milestone birthday with not one, but TWO pinatas!
I'm actually so surprised at how simple and rewarding the craft project was, time consuming, but what was I to expect with only two days before we left? I wish I had a few more days to make the decorations a bit better, but the end of it I felt like I was just slapping gluing tissue paper on.
I think the hardest part was actually just cutting out the cardboard..
Lucky for my that boy of mine was just as excited as I was and he cut out all the cardboard for me. Crippling his hand in the process, of course.
The concept was so simple and I was afraid that they weren't going to be very sturdy pinatas-- but they turned out to be almost too sturdy!
I'm not going to lie-- it was so much fun!!
and I know that he loved them because it took some convincing for him to tear them to pieces! And I'm happy to say that I wasn't heart broken at all seeing them in shreds. :)
Happy 50th Birthday Dad!
Awesome! I'm definitely going to try to make one for my son's 7th birthday now. Good job, and way to be dedicated and persistent with the gluing on of the tissue paper ;O) I imagine that took a lot of patience.
ReplyDeletethank you!! I followed her lead from Oh Happy Day in cutting up tissue paper (http://ohhappyday.com/2011/02/fringey-streamers-diy/) and I was so surprised that I only went through two packages of tissue paper for both! you can do it! it was a fun project :)
