a belated birthday.

Lara's birthday is six days before Christmas. We had grand plans to all get together and celebrate her Birthday all before we left to go see our families for Christmas. However, her husband came down with the flu causing her and their one month old newborn to pack up and head straight to her mom's house to quarantine herself and the little one. So there went the Birthday plans.. until this past weekend!!
Lar and I took a trip to Whole Foods with Liliana and unbeknown to Lara the boys were at home decorating their house and picking up the Sprinkle Cake I made for her the night before! :)

She had no idea and was so excited that we
were FINALLY celebrating her Birthday
... just under a month late. :)

Look at that cute little family.

And this little party animal!

You can find the sprinkle cakes all over Pinterest and I've been dying to make one. I opted to go for the thicker Rainbow Sprinkles rather than the tiny dot sprinkles. Although I love the look of the tiny dot sprinkles on the cakes, I wanted to keep the mess of it all a bit under control.

And the best part is that it tasted good too!!

I'm SO happy with how it turned out! Even if I'll be finding sprinkles when
we move out of this apartment.

the mystery of the christmas tree.

Tuon's still trying to figure out what the heck happened to the Christmas tree...

She's such a funny pup, but we'll keep her.

two-thousand fourteen.

we rung in the new year with this little lady.

we're a bit obsessed with her..

As is Tuon!
Never in my life have I seen a dog SO in love with a baby.
Trust me, it'll make your heart melt.

We spent new year's eve with our really good friends and their almost two month old baby. It was low-key and fantastic. Lara cooked us up an amazing dinner, Thomas and I provided dessert and the movie and we were all up (including Liliana) at midnight to ring in 2014 together.

It was such a goodnight, filled with good friends, belated Christmas gifts, fully bellies, a movie and of course a little bundle of sunshine.

Ignore my half fallen out pony tail of a hairdo, we were watching a movie and I was perfectly content holding a sleeping baby through the entire thing rather than dealing with my hair. :)

See I told you, we're all a bit over the moon about the little one.  :)

This year was such a good one and I was really sad have 2013 come to an end. This was a big year for us and I'll always look back at this year fondly with good memories. As much as I'm sad to see 2013 leave us, I'm also excited for the New Year. I'm excited to spend time with my love and to simply live life.
Happy New Year!
